Leaf Hunt

My younger two kiddos, the pup, and I decided to go on a walk the other morning(the weather was uh-mazing!) to go on a serious leaf hunt. I pulled out a gallon ziplock bag and wrote on it with a sharpie, "Cali's Leaf Bag" which she proudly toted along with her. I left the little guy in his pjs and the dog came along because I was feeling nice that day :) I told my 4 year old daughter to see how many different kinds of leaves she could find, how many different colors, shapes and sizes. She had a blast! While this isn't some "wow" "amazing" new idea, its just something so fun, yet something I had kinda forgotten about. Sometimes the most fun things we can do with our kids are simple things like this. Take some time to go on a walk, soak in nature & explore! We don't have to spend money to spend time with our kiddos. When we were done, we went home and categorized them and talked about the colors and which ones were our favorites. And then we did good old-fashioned leaf rubs with crayons. It was so fun to see her eyes light up when she saw the print of the leaf showing through the paper when she colored it! I could tell she didn't remember that we did this last year(and honestly last year she was only three and didn't seem to care yet:) Here are pictures from our fun fall morning...

  1. I still have the art work that the kids created on a walk around the block one time couple of years ago. I love their little imaginative minds and how they can create such fantastic works of art. Nothing like discovering nature even in the city.
